Friday Fun
Yes, it is Friday. And it will be such a fun Friday. I have had a pretty good week up to this point and I want to top it off with a good Friday. Then I can begin a great weekend! I am looking forward to quitting time today. There is just no better feeling than walking out of the building on a Friday afternoon knowing the whole weekend is ahead of me.
Today begins the month of August. It will be hot!! LOL. We are in the throes of summer and of course it will be hot. The “dog days” are here. And we associate these days with being hot.
Actually, the dog days have nothing to do with the weather. It’s about this time when we can see the Dog Star, Sirius, the brightest in the sky rising in the east. It’s a magnificent sight as Sirius is the brightest star in the sky. Also, you will be able to see the Pleaides and Orion rising just above Sirius, which is in the constellation Canis Major, or the Big Dog.
This is my favorite part of the sky. I have always loved this part of the heavens. I love on the cooler fall and winter nights right after dark when I can pull out my telescope and enjoy the sky.
It won’t be 100 degrees anytime in the next week or so here, but it will get very close to it. It’s just hot. We also don’t have much chances for rain. So it will be hot and dry. August is a tough month on plants in general. I will make sure I keep my plants watered and such.
I will also plant some new seeds at the end month and probably a few in the middle of the month. They will be my fall crop. I love the fall and winter. I plant my compost crops to enrich my soil. I love planting wheat, rye, and all the other plants that I can cut down later and toss in the compost heap.
I am going to have to write on my two articles over the weekend. I am going to come out with some good stuff. I will write it all down and have some rough drafts for Monday. Then I will have the rest of the week to fine tune them.
That’s all for today. I am a little bouncy. I am ready to go and get my day started, get it over with and head into the weekend. More later!!
